Weeks ago: trying to actually print the documents...
Jay Hathaway: Argh!
Rachel G. Effingboring: dude, what's up?
Jay Hathaway: Need to send in this form for my loans, and I can't get to it. Because the website is retarded. and I locked myself out with wrong passwords. and their phone number is busy.
Rachel G. Effingboring: um... wow. hopefully the website will heal itself soon
Jay Hathaway: I'm just going to sit here calling this number until they answer.
Rachel G. Effingboring: yeah, sometimes that's all you can do. they're probably choked with calls about it
Jay Hathaway: Do these people only have one phone line? Holy shit.
Rachel G. Effingboring: what company is it?
Jay Hathaway: It's HESAA. Oh balls. I got in, but "no application exists with that reference number."
Rachel G. Effingboring: dag. maybe something's wrong with the site
Jay Hathaway: Ok, now I got something.
Rachel G. Effingboring: good. something positive?
Jay Hathaway: Ugh, not really! An FDF file. Weinersauce. I need Acrobat for that shit. I forgot how broken this site is on a Mac.
Rachel G. Effingboring: weak.
Jay Hathaway: Booting up Windows via Parallels NOW.
Rachel G. Effingboring: indeed.
Jay Hathaway: I can't understand how people use this!
Rachel G. Effingboring: what's wrong?
Jay Hathaway: Ok, so the PDF is populated with data from their site, and I need that to print. But I don't have a printer, so I need to save it. But I can't open it in Acrobat Reader, which is the only thing that can open it. and I can't print it to PDF like you can on a Mac. So what I have is a form that I can't print, or a blank form that I can.
Rachel G. Effingboring: why can't you open it in reader?
Jay Hathaway: It's online, so it keeps opening in IE. When I open it in reader, it's blank. It's a special kind of PDF, with an FDF file that fills in the form
Rachel G. Effingboring: ah, so you need the whole acrobat suite, not just reader
Jay Hathaway: Is there a way to just print out a window to PDF in WIndows?
Rachel G. Effingboring: no, i think you need to have software. http://www.primopdf.com/
Jay Hathaway: Now I have to install .NET. Oh my god, this must be what it's like to not know how to use a computer. It's terrifying.
Rachel G. Effingboring: windows keeps you on your toes like that, yeah. *hugging work mac* i hug this thing every day.
Jay Hathaway: Once this PDF thing is installed, how do I use it? I can't install a printer on the virtual machine, I think. and it wants to act like a printer. :(
Rachel G. Effingboring: i'm sorry. i'm confused why it wouldn't open on your mac?
Jay Hathaway: Because it's not designed to. This site/file format hates Macs. I can't even get to it on the Mac. The site looks completely different in IE.
Rachel G. Effingboring: will IE install on a mac?
Jay Hathaway: They cancelled it
Rachel G. Effingboring: do you run firefox or safari?
Jay Hathaway: I tried both.
Rachel G. Effingboring: aren't there free web services that will do it?
Jay Hathaway: The file doesn't contain all the information, so I can't really put it into anything. It's just an IE window, as far everything else is concerned.
Rachel G. Effingboring: ah, okay, i see now. what about a screenshot?
Jay Hathaway: FUUUUUUUUCK. It just made my Windows Adobe Reader the default PDF viewer on my Mac. Now every time I open a PDF, it tries to open Parallels. FUCKKKKKKdhsdfhjdshjsbjsbf
